PBA Replay: Meralco vs Barangay Ginebra Game 5. The Barangay Ginebra San Miguel Kings moved within reach of its first title since 2008 after outlasting Meralco, 92-81, in the crucial Game 5 of the Oppo PBA Governors’ Cup finals on Sunday at the SMART-Araneta Coliseum.

Import Justin Brownlee posted 29 points and 10 rebounds while Japeth Aguilar added 16 points, eight rebounds and three blocks as the Kings took a 3-2 lead in the best-of-seven series.

Joe Devance added 11 points, eight rebounds and six assists. Mark Caguioa and Sol Mercado added eight apiece while LA Tenorio scored only seven points but grabbed five rebounds and dished out a game-high eight assists.

Ginebra led by double figures for much of the game. They led by as many as 21 points in the first half as a sizzling first quarter from Brownlee and some contributions from veterans Devance, Caguioa and Jayjay Helterbrand.

They led, 33-19, after the first and 54-39 at the halftime break.
