PBA Livestream: Barangay Ginebra vs San Miguel Game 5. Will the San Miguel Beermen keep their title defense bid alive? Or will Barangay Ginebra San Miguel finally move closer to ending their championship drought?
They will be answered on Tuesday night as the Beermen and the Gin Kings clash one last time in the sudden-death Game Five of the PBA Governors’ Cup semifinals at SMART-Araneta Coliseum.
Tip-off is set at 7 p.m. live on TV5 with the winner earning a finals date with the Meralco Bolts.
After engaging themselves in a back-and-forth battle through the first four games, San Miguel and Ginebra go for all the marbles in this deciding Game Five as they both seek a ticket to the finals of the season-ending conference.
Ginebra drew first blood in the series, pulling off a 115-108 victory in Game One behind a monster performance from Justin Brownlee who finished with 39 points and 16 boards.
San Miguel evened the series in Game Two, overcoming a cut to star center June Mar Fajardo to come away with a 95-92 triumph.
The Gin Kings quickly bounced back, with Japeth Aguilar sinking a sensational buzzer-beating jumper that lifted the Gin Kings to a 97-96 win.
The Beermen however recovered big time, leaning on a hot 25-point night from Marcio Lassiter to cruise to a 101-72 rout for the first lopsided result of the series.
San Miguel is once again relying on the explosion of its starters in June Mar Fajardo, Elijah Millsap, Arwind Santos, Alex Cabagnot and Lassiter while also hoping that it would get some points from reserves Chris Ross, Ronald Tubid and Yancy De Ocampo.
Ginebra is looking forward to a big bounce-back game from Aguilar, who only scored one point in Game Four, as well as productions from the likes of Scottie Thompson, Sol Mercado, Joe Devance, LA Tenorio and Brownlee.
