Talk ‘N Text foils NLEX coach Boyet Fernandez comeback PBA Debut
- Updated: October 25, 2014
The TALK ‘N TEXT Tropang Texters bounced back from an opening day loss against Barangay Ginebra last Sunday after a dominating performance in a lopsided win against NLEX Road Warriors, 103-81, in the 2015 PBA Philippine Cup on Friday at the Araneta Coliseum.
The newly acquired last off-season Jay Washington who was scoreless in their first game, top-scored the Tropang Texters, finishing with 19 solid points.
Kelly Williams also had the best performance in this season after scoring 18 points. Jason Castro and Matt Ganuelas-Rosser finished with 15 and 13 points respectively sealing their first victory.
Gilas Pilipinas stalwart Ranidel De Ocampo played for the Tropang Texters and he only finished with four points, while Jimmy Alapag still sat out a second consecutive game.
Meanwhile, the NLEX Road Warriors failed to sustain the momentum they got from their victory over Globalport Batang Pier last Tuesday as they suffered a lopsided loss against their sister team Tropang Texters.
The ageless Asi Taulava, though finishing with 12 points, struggled a little bit after failing to contain Jay Washington and Kelly Williams who continued to challenge the Road Warriors’ defense.
Jonas Villanueva and Aldrech Ramos led the NLEX with 19 and 14 points respectively, while the top scorer in the first game Macmac Cardona chipped in 13 points for the Road Warriors.
Coach Boyet Fernandez PBA debut with NLEX was foiled by the Tropang Texters.
